Basic Disaster Academy / CERT training is how all new CERT's get trained. The Basic Disaster Academy / CERT training course typically takes approximately 28 hours for a student to complete in total. It is broken down into modules related to disaster response and students must attend the entire course in order to receive certification. This course is the Basic CERT Training required for anyone wanting to join either Lane Community College Campus CERT or the Central Aid Agency CERT Program. The course is also available for interested members of the general public to take as well, but they must provide their own equipment (see below).  Please note space in the class is limited, and priority will be given to people who are joining one of the host CERT programs.

  • To register for this training, select the option you wish to sign up for, and check out normally.

  • We must have a minimum of 10 people register for this class, or it may get cancelled.
  • Class size is limited to 20 people, any beyond that will be added to a waitlist.  We will notify you if this occurs.
  • Please Note: You must attend the ENTIRE course AND the final drill to receive certification.

Course Requirements
  • I will make a concerted effort to attend all the days of the training.
  • If I am joining a CERT program, I have downloaded the appropriate application packet for my program and I will bring it to the first day of class.
  • If I am not joining a CERT program, I have downloaded the Liability Waiver and I will bring it filled out and signed to the first day of the class.  I have also read the required equipment list and will bring my own equipment to the class.

Program Details

  • Central Aid Agency CERT is a federally registered CERT program that is hosted by the Central Aid Agency. a non-profit organization involved with disaster response and community service.
  • C.A.A. Emergency Response is based in Junction City but is not tied to a specific jurisdictional area.  Emergency Response deploys anywhere that has deployment agreements with the Central Aid Agency. In the past Emergency Response has deployed for events such as an snow and ice storms and wildfires.
  • C.A.A. meetings are held every month on the 2nd Friday of the month.  Meetings are held at Sector 2 Headquarters, located behind the First Christian Church in Junction City (1250 Nyssa street) and go from 7:30 to 10 PM.
  • C.A.A. CERT is part of Emergency Response and trains and deploys with other C.A.A. Emergency Response units.
  • The Central Aid Agency has a deployment agreement with LCC and Emergency Response personnel are dual enrolled in the LCC C-CERT program as C-CERT Partner members.

Membership

  • To join, members must submit a membership application.
  • Membership cost: $55.00 - Covers 2 basic CERT Red T-shirts, Nametapes, and CERT Badge (REQUIRED for all new members, payment made on check out)
  • All other CERT Equipment is issued and must be returned upon leaving the program, including the basic CERT gear kit.
  • Members must complete CERT Basic Training and ICS 100, 200, 700 within 3 months of completing the Basic CERT Training, to become deployable.
  • All members must submit to and pass a criminal background check
  • The program is structured, and there are opportunities for leadership and advancement within the program.
  • Members earn points through attendance, and must earn enough points yearly to remain active.

LCC C-CERT Information

Program Details

  • Lane Community College Campus CERT is a federally registered CERT program that is hosted by Lane Community College Department of Public Safety.
  • The program is based at LCC Main Campus, but can respond to any LCC Campus.
  • LCC C-CERT meets on the 3rd Monday of every month at the LCC Main Campus.  Meeting locations vary, but meetings go from 5 to 6 PM.
  • LCC C-CERT is deployed by LCC Public Safety and/or the campus Emergency Planning Team.
  • LCC C-CERT is trained to use Public Safety equipment, including radios and vehicles.
  • LCC C-CERT has deployed to assist LCC Public Safety in a variety of circumstances, including a HAZMAT Spill and natural gas leak.

  • To join, members must submit a membership application.

Information

  • CERT training is beneficial for anyone wanting to learn more about how to prepare for, and what to do during, an emergency or disaster.
  • CERT training is free of charge, but if you aren't joining one of the host CERT programs you have to provide your own gear.
  • A signed liability waiver is required for anyone wanting to attend all, or part, of this course and who is not joining one of the host CERT programs.
  • Students must attend the entire course in order to receive a certificate of completion.  However, if they are not interested in becoming certified, they may drop in to specific modules as long as this is coordinated ahead of time with the instructors.
  • The training is very comprehensive, and covers many topics and skills related to disaster response and preparedness.
