Overview
Basic Defensive Tactics is an essential overview class for anyone that carries defensive tools and is authorized to use force in the course of their duties. This comprehensive no-frills course covers a variety of skills necessary to safely and effectively use force and defensive tools; including: use of force, use of force decision making, defensive stance, unarmed defensive techniques, basic weapon disarming, movement, using a baton, using handcuffs, and using OC/ASR Pepper Spray.

Description
Basic Defensive Tactics is an essential class for anyone that carries and is authorized to use tools and force in the course of their duties. This comprehensive no-frills course covers a variety of skills necessary to safely and effectively use common defensive tactics techniques. Including use of force, use of force decision making, defensive stance, unarmed defensive techniques, and simple weapon disarming. Handcuff topics include using handcuffs when effecting an arrest or transferring a prisoner, control holds, compliant handcuffing, and non-compliant handcuffing. Baton topics include movement, drawing the baton, strikes, and baton retention. OC/ASR Pepper Spray topics include movement, deployment, and post-deployment care. This course utilizes inert (harmless) pepper spray training canisters. This course is taught by a defensive tactics instructor certified through the American Council on Criminal Justice Training (ACCJT). The course completion card is valid for 1 year.
